One of the best events of the year is without a doubt, the Circle K Back to School Monster Truck Bash at The Dirt Track in Charlotte, NC. Since 2009, the “Over-Under” or “Monster Truck Rally-Cross” track has been the staple of this event. Dubbed by The Dirt Track’s website, it is the “most diabolical outdoor course on the planet”. That statement is accurate, there is no other event that has the trucks change and race each other’s lane by having one jump over the other’s lane while racing!
Brian Manson and the crew from MTX Event Productions take on the challenge of building this wild track at The Dirt Track each year. According to their website, “this year’s event used 4,500 yards of dirt, 4 school buses, 24 junk cars, 4 vans, and incorporated 2 double jumps with gaps of 50 and 60 feet”!
The stacked lineup of monster trucks in attendance this year included Bigfoot 19, Xtermigator, Ice Cream Man, Dirt Crew, Quad Chaos, Bad Company, Jester, Kraken, Stone Crusher, and last year’s winner Hooked.
This year was different for as far as doing media coverage. Chris Parrish, owner of Mean Duck Productions has covered this event for some years now for The Monster Blog’s TMBTV. However, this year he would have the job of being one the officials for the event. So, he contacted myself and Monster Power’s Nick Davis to cover the event for TMBTV. We were both glad to help out. I would be covering the action from the ground and Nick had the flag stand. This would be my second time videoing, I also helped out at the Beef 'O' Brady's Monster Truck Madness event at Bristol back in July.
I won’t spoil the action from here on, so be sure to watch .:TMBTV AT 10.5 Monster Truck Rally-Cross Charlotte Motor Speedway Monster Trucks 2019 – ActionTracks:. below. Also, the sure to subscribe to TMBTV and Monster Power, they are two of the best video coverage channels out there!
Myself and my wife Bethany did manage to shoot some photos of the event, mostly pit party, and some qualifying. We hope you enjoy them and try to make it out to the event next year. It happens every August at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s The Dirt Track!
